Turbulence Injector
Real-world weather-driven turbulence for Microsoft Flight Simulator
Turbulence Injector enhances flight realism by dynamically introducing
turbulence based on real atmospheric conditions rather than random effects.
The goal is to make turbulence feel realistic
— just like in real-world aviation.
What It Simulates
-
Cloud-based turbulence
Detects cloud density and injects light to moderate turbulence when flying
in and around convective or dense cloud formations.
-
AIRMET & SIGMET turbulence
Uses published aviation weather data to apply turbulence in regions affected
by reported moderate, severe, or clear-air turbulence.
-
Clear Air Turbulence (CAT)
Simulates high-altitude turbulence outside of visible weather, driven by
real SIGMET data rather than randomness.
How It Works
The injector continuously evaluates aircraft position, altitude, weather data,
and active turbulence advisories. When conditions are met, it applies controlled
velocity and rotational disturbances to the aircraft.
Effects are:
- Intensity-scaled based on reported severity
- Smoothed to avoid unrealistic jolts or constant shaking
- Applied only when environmental conditions justify them
